Thatcham: has separated immobilisers into 2 categories:

  • Category 2 - Electronic immobilisers
  • Category 3 - Mechanical immobilisers again discussed in Steering wheel lock section

    • Category 2

    These have the following features:

  • It has to be activated automatically (you don't have to consciously do it yourself)
  • It has to run off to separate systems (so that if one is cut/broken, it still works)
  • If it runs off 1 system, then it has to be coded
