According to the 2006 Car Theft Index from the Home Office, the top cars most likely to get stolen are as follows:

Other interesting highlights of the report include:

Older cars are at the highest risk of being stolen

Cars more than nine years old account for nearly two-thirds of all cars stolen

New cars are at least risk of being stolen – those aged 0–3 years old account for less than 11 per cent of stolen cars.

BCS (British Crime Survey)results also show that cars are far less likely to be stolen if they have a car alarm or some kind of immobiliser

A consistent finding of the BCS is that around 68 per cent of vehicle crimes occur near the home

The street outside the home is where the highest volume of incidents occurs – 43 per cent in the 2005/06 BCS
